Roscommon is located right at the very heart of Ireland in a region of ancient castles and kings. It's a fascinating part of the country with a great deal to explore both in the town itself and the surrounding countryside. In the heart of this bustling market town is Gleeson's Townhouse & Restaurant - a beautifully restored 19th century house offering the full flavour of Ireland and guaranteed to charm. This guesthouse is the perfect base for touring the West and Midlands of Ireland, discovering the rich heritage and history associated with this region. Gleeson's Cafe, with its turf stove and homemade baking, is a great place to observe the idiosyncrasies of 'Midlands' life - and an opportunity to ask locals about legendary hang woman Lady Betty. Alternatively there's the Manse Restaurant which has an excellent brasserie style menu with local dishes such as Leitrim Organic Farmers Burgers and Roscommon Rack of Lamb. For breakfast there's homemade soda bread, Flahavans porridge and Irish black, and white, pudding. To take the great food home, be sure to check out the award winning Artisan Food and Wine Shop just a stone's throw away. Bedrooms are very comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything you could need. Superior rooms have king-sized beds, luxury baths and a trouser press. People, though, are the key here. Owners Eamonn and Mary Gleeson and their team offer a warmth of hospitality that is rare.
