West Country hospitality in elegant Georgian surroundings

In the quiet and lovely Somerset village of Hatch Beauchamp sits the Farthings Country House Hotel and Restaurant. The Georgian hotel is near to Taunton and the M5, yet a wonder away in peace and quiet. Each of the eleven bedrooms has lovely views over the three acres of gardens. Each is kitted out with the finest linens and feather duvets, and most bathrooms feature gorgeous baths either with or without showers. In true countryside style, you'll find porcelain figures or vases and rustic paintings about all the rooms. Those at the top of the house have wonderful wooden beams. A recent addition to the lavish accommodation comes in the form of Maple Cottage, a one-bedroom spacious home from home. The award-winning restaurant sources food locally. You'll be able to sample cheeses from Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. All kinds of seasonal fruit and veg grow in the hotel's very own English country garden - including quinces that will go nicely with all that cheese. Beef and lamb come from a Somerset born and bred butcher, whose mother still personally checks up on the livestock. Eggs are from the hotel's own chickens and geese. In summer small bites and drinks can be enjoyed outside and in the winter a log fire crackles in the lounge area and bar.
