This imposing stone hall, which dates back to the early 1700s, is surrounded by the breathtakingly beautiful scenery of Northumberland National Park, a particularly unspoilt area of the country with numerous treasures to discover and explore - the castles at Alnwick and Bamburgh, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, expansive, near empty, sandy beaches and numerous quaint fishing villages. Embleton Hall itself has a refreshingly authentic and unpretentious air about it, both unstuffy and welcoming. The interiors are traditionally elegant and appear to have remained unchanged for a few hundred years. The rooms are grand with fine paintings and period furnishings. In the drawing room you'll find an ornate marble fireplace, floral chintz and a comfortable chaise lounge. The bedrooms are spacious with some featuring elaborate canopy or four-poster beds. There are also a handful of comfortable, yet more modestly, appointed rooms. There's a very good table d'hôte menu and carefully chosen wine list. A traditional breakfast buffet, complete with giant silver cloches, is laid out in the lovely dining room. With its five acres of grounds, including a romantic 'Secret Garden,' it's easy to see why Embleton Hall is ideal for countryside relaxation.
