Dale Head Hall Lakeside Hotel(Keswick, Cumbria, UK) |

This glorious 16th century house is surrounded by acres of lush woodland. The Hall stands alone on the shores of Thirlmere with rich green lawns sweeping towards the water. The tranquillity of the location cannot be surpassed. This is a true bird watchers' paradise where even the endangered red squirrel is often seen playing in the grounds. The Leathes family founded Dale Head Hall in 1577. Three hundred years later the lake and Hall were purchased by the city of Manchester to provide the city with clean drinking water and successive Lord Mayors with an idyllic summer retreat. Today the Hill family offer exceptional accommodation and service. The décor and furnishings are superb; the lounges have stunning lake views, as do nine of the bedrooms. The five course table d'hote dinner is served in the candle lit dining room. The tasty cuisine is crafted from the finest and freshest seasonal local produce, complemented by an extensive international wine list. Beyond the Hall you are greeted by all the splendours of the Lake District: Helvellyn is on your doorstep, Borrowdale is close by, and you are within very easy striking distance of Keswick and all its nearby attractions. Or relax closer to home and fish, sail and canoe on Thirlmere itself.
