Close House Hotel achieves that rare trick of being many things to many people and doing all of them exceedingly well. Situated in 300 acres of woodland and parkland, it's a much sought after venue for executive conferences, weddings, private celebrations and short escapes, and with two superb 18-hole golf courses, a driving range, clubhouse and golf academy, it's surely one of the finest golf resorts in The North of England. The interior design is a clever combination of traditional and modern with contemporary colour schemes set against elegant original features such as moulded walls and ornate fireplaces. All the bedrooms are beautifully and luxuriously styled and the wonderful new Courtyard Rooms are sumptuously decorated and are very worthy of investigation! The food at Close House is excellent - the attention to detail showing in the inventive canapé menu. Ingredients are sourced mostly from artisan suppliers favouring Northumberland's own superb food producers - the essential criteria being organic, free range and home produced. Bewickes Restaurant has an intimate and sophisticated feel whilst the Champagne Lounge and cocktail bar is very much the place to be. You will also definitely want to visit No. 19, the new state-of-the-art clubhouse featuring beautifully home-cooked food in a relaxing setting with soul-stirring views over the Tyne Valley. This handsome 18th century mansion house is surrounded by unspoilt Northumberland countryside, close to the path of Hadrian's Wall, yet is only 15 minutes away from Newcastle city centre.
