This Shannon country house is blessed with a fantastic location. It is just ten minutes from Shannon Airport, 20 minutes from Limerick and in easy reach of Bunratty, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. The hotel's seven acres of woodlands, gardens and pastures overlook the Shannon and Fergus Estuaries. These grounds bear some testament to the hard work of a succession of gentleman farmers who worked the many hundreds of acres that surrounded the house in the past. Originally built in the 18th Century as a magistrate's seat, the hotel has been restored and refurbished to reinstate a traditional style that is echoed in the luxuriant and brightly coloured four-poster beds. A well appointed lounge with log fires and a fine book collection is available to guests. The restaurant takes an adventurous slant on traditional Irish and French cuisine. Why not try the pan-fried sirloin of Quin beef, herb mash, creamy peppercorn & brandy sauce ? Polish that off with the warm plum pudding with rosemary ice cream and plum sauce. The farmhouse breakfasts are invigorating while the Continental breakfast is extensive and features home-made jams, traditional breads and preserves.
