Carr House Farm is home to one of the 'official friendly faces of North Yorkshire' Jack Peckitt and his wife Anna Lupton, whose family has farmed here for five generations. Situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and surrounded by great walking country, the house is full of character with bare stone walls and timbered beams. The interior is full of homely touches and is infused with Jack and Anna's colourful personality. You'll find imposing four-poster beds with medieval styled canopies made up with crisp white linen. For breakfast scrambled eggs are served with Grandad's prize tomatoes and pancakes and cheese scones are served hot from the Aga. Then there are homemade jams and Yorkshire Tea - of course! Guests are not thrown out for the day but can spend time enjoying the splendid setting and slackened pace. Facilities have also been generously provided for guests to make light meals and snacks should they feel peckish. Two of the region's famous Cistercian abbeys, Byland and Rievaulx, are on the doorstep as is the Benedictine community at Ampleforth. The walled city of York and many other great sights are within an hour's easy drive.
