Burythorpe House Hotel(York, Yorkshire, UK) |

This handsome, Virginia creeper-clad property is located on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors near the attractive village of Malton and the famous stately home of Castle Howard. The house is warm and welcoming with delightfully traditional interiors. The bedrooms, all refurbished in 2007, are utterly exquisite. The majority of rooms are classically elegant in style yet one or two are fantastically chic with an unmistakable boutique feel. A number of rooms have antique brass beds or all-enveloping super king-sized sleigh beds, and all come with little luxuries such as Molton Brown toiletries. Newburgh, a spacious luxury room, features a copper slipper bath on a raised plinth. The Priory Restaurant is exceptional and its Head Chef, Daniel Farrall, is making quite a name for himself in Yorkshire. He delights in the abundance of high quality natural produce available on his doorstep and can often be spotted, we are told, foraging for wild garlic in the local hedgerows. There is just so much to see in this fascinating corner of the country, including the expansive scenery of the moor itself, historic coastal villages, the extraordinary collection of historic houses and abbeys, plus York itself is only a short drive away.
