Within this idyllic picture is Borrowdale Gates, secluded in its own two acres of wooded gardens. The house was built in 1860 as a private residence, and its air of comfortable informality continues; this is a wonderful place to shed one's cares and release one's tensions.
The furniture and fabrics contribute to the feeling of mellow good living, and antiques and fresh flowers add a personal touch. The bedrooms (10 on the ground floor) make the most of the breathtaking views, as do the lounges and restaurant with their picture windows.
