Alverton Manor(Truro, Cornwall, UK) |

A converted convent which once saw the Sisters of the Epiphany gliding through its corridors, Alverton Manor is wonderfully atmospheric. The Grade II listed building has the added bonus of being located on a hill near Cornwall's capital, Truro. Here are vine-covered sandstone walls and a Cornish delabole slate roof, mullioned windows, and a magnificent lawn with palms and birdboxes. This is idyllic Cornwall at its best. Inside, bedrooms are individually decorated with an emphasis on English style and bedrooms speak of home. Antiques can be found dotted around in abundance along with all the amenities expected of a luxury hotel. The two AA rosette Alverton Restaurant keeps its ingredients local, working with suppliers who won't be burning miles to get food to table and who ensure the meat is free range. The hotel also rears its own Devon Red Cattle. A selection of English meats and fish can be found on the creative menu accompanied by an array of exciting sauces. As this is Cornwall, cream teas are a must and the hotel knows how to lay out a lovely spread. Alverton Manor is the perfect place from which to visit the Eden project, an exciting exploration of biodiversity and all round great venue. Also nearby are the castles at Pendennis and St Mawes and the creative city of Falmouth
