Behind the elegant Victorian Gentleman's Residence of 1 Park Road you'll find discreet luxury and outstanding service. Owners Mary and Philip have created a discrete and intimate boutique hotel set in a quiet residential area of Windermere - a short stroll from the lake's edge. It's clear from the outset that Mary and Philip pride themselves on giving guests a level of care and attention that's sadly no longer standard these days. Handsomelydecorated and furnished throughout, the drawing room is particularly elegant with its varnished wood floor, some interesting and quirky books, a full length bay windowand grand piano. The six bedrooms have undergone a recent refurbishment and are modern and contemporary with some of the upholstery carried out my Mary. Bedrooms have Pure Lakes and White Company lotions and soaps, white robes,i-Pod docking stations and DVD players, Wi-Fi and, very important to Philip, freshly ground coffee, fresh milk and a variety of teas and hot chocolates. With so many guests spending their days in the great outdoors, dinner is plentiful but unpretentious and their choice of wines and bottled beers from Europe is outstanding.The evening menu might include such things as a cheese soufflés, a braised lambshank, sea bass served on crispy risotto or hot chocolate roulade. Award-winning local sausages are dished up for breakfast, organic eggs, locally smoked bacon along with kippers, Eggs Benedict, kedgeree- all freshly home made.
