One of the biggest museums of its kind
In its heyday Dinorwig Slate Quarry, Llanberis, was one of Wale's largest, employing over 3,000 men. Following its closure in 1969 the workshops were preserved as the Welsh Slate Museum. Everything remains, as it was, the machinery, plant and huge water-wheel - which powered the workshops when the quarry supplied the world with roofing slates. Displays and demonstrations of the quarryman's work. "Photograph courtesy of the Wales Tourist Board
