Along with the pomp, Warwick Castle give you the circumstance. Over a thousand years of secrets hide in the shadows of Warwick Castle. Murder, mystery, intrigue and scandal: the Castle has witnessed it all, and now reveals the secret life of England as you have never seen it before. From the days of William the Conqueror to the reign of Queen Victoria, the Castle has provided a backdrop for many turbulent times. Here you can join a mediaeval household in our Kingmaker attraction, watching them prepare for the final battle of the Earl of Warwick. Enter the eerie Ghost Tower, where it is said that the unquiet spirit of Sir Fulke Greville, murdered most foully by a manservant, still roams. Descend into the gloomy depths of the Dungeon and Torture Chamber, then step forward in time and marvel at the grandeur of the State Rooms. The 14th century Great Hall lies at the heart of the Castle and here you can see the death mask of Oliver Cromwell and Bonnie Prince Charlie's shield. Witness the perfect manners and hidden indiscretions of Daisy, Countess of Warwick and her friends at the Royal Weekend Party 1898 or stroll through the 60 acres of grounds and gardens, landscaped by `Capability' Brown, which surround the Castle today. Besides the secrets, there are a host of special events to enjoy throughout the year, including Birds of Prey, Jousting and a Mediaeval Festival. Warwick Castle really is one of the best days out in history. Historic Houses Association Member. OPENING TIMES Summer: April - October 10am - 6pm Last admission 5.30pm.
