TheVillage of Dunkeld
Place of Interest
|
One of the most historic and picturesque villages in Scotland, Dunkeld boasts a stunning location of the River Tay, surrounded by wooded crags and superb walking trails. The whitewashed "Little Houses" of the village have been preserved unspoilt since their rebuilding in 1689, and contrast with the majestic 14th century ruins of Dunkeld Cathedral. Across the river lies Birnam, famed for its Shakespearean connections (Birnam Hill in "Macbeth") and for its Beatrix Potter Garden - the children's author was a frequent visitor here.
