Explore the timeless quality of life in Scilly

Warmed by the Gulf Stream and populated by just over 2,000 islanders, the magical Isles of Scilly offer tranquillity and a timeless quality of life. Just 28 miles south west of Land's End and surrounded by sparkling silver sands and the clear, blue waters of the Atlantic, they are an ideal haven for visitors who are looking for open spaces, relaxation and history. Of the 100 islands only 5 are inhabited. St Mary's being the largest is scarcely 3 miles long and 2 miles wide, whilst Tresco, St Martin's, St Agnes and Bryer are smaller still. Most of the remainder are little more than spectacular, sharp-toothed rock structures that are home only to seals and seabirds. The mild, balmy climate encourages, colourful displays of exotic plants and flowers. But timelessness does not mean that the Scillies have not kept place with today's visitor needs. The inhabited islands provide good restaurants, sport and leisure facilities as well as glorious coastal walk and safe, uncrowded beeches.
