The Banqueting House

Historic Sites & Monuments
One of the best places for banquets and concerts

The Banqueting House is principally used for concerts and banqueting. It was completed in 1622, commissioned by King James I, and designed by Inigo Jones, the noted classical architect. In 1635 the main hall was further enhanced with the installation of 9 magnificent ceiling paintings by Sir Peter Paul Rubens. King Charles I was executed just outside the entry door in 1649. The hall and ceiling paintings survive to this day (as does the atmospheric undercroft) and the whole building provides a magnificent backdrop for many of society's most glittering occasions. OPENING TIMES: All year Mon - Sat 10am - 5pm Last admission 4.30pm. Closed 24 December - 1 January, Good Friday and other public holidays
