This building is the largest timber-framed town house in England. Built in 1595 by the Dorrington family, this house is still very impressive on Stafford's skyline. It was lived in by Richard Sneyd, a member of one of Staffordshire's greatest families when King Charles I stayed here in 1642. It is now a registered museum with displays set out as period room settings which present aspects of the house's history. The Staffordshire Yeomanry Museum is on the top floor. Opening Times: Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm. Sat (Apr - Oct) 10am - 4pm. Sat (Nov - Mar) 10am - 3pm. Check BHs
