These beautiful 180 acre gardens are home to one of the best 20th century collections of plants to be found anywhere in the world. They were begun in 1953 by the famous nurseryman Sir Harold Hillier and since 1977 have been held in trust by Hampshire County Council, earning a reputation as a garden for all seasons. From the magnificent spring blossoms to the bark and witch hazels of mid-winter, there is always something to delight visitors. Opening times: Apr - Oct: Mon - Fri, 10.30am - 6pm. Sat & Sun & BHs, 9.30am - 6pm. Nov - Mar: daily, 10.30am - dusk. Closed on BHs over Christmas
