Founded in 1621; oldest botanic garden in Britain; 8,000 plants from all over the world; original walled garden; many trees over 200 years old; herbaceous borders, recently renovated rock and bog gardens; national collection of euphorbias, tropical glasshouses including a 100 year old cacti and waterlillies; a peaceful oasis in the city centre.
