Scotland's longest river runs through the heart of Perthshire
The mightiest river in Britain, carrying more water than the Thames and Severn combined. Famed for its salmon fishing (A British record-breaking 64-pounder was landed here), the Tay how also hosts international canoeing and white-water rafting on its livelier stretches. Surprisingly to many, the lower reaches of the river are busy with cargo ships - the Tay is navigable as far as Perth, where there is a bustling harbour.
