The most historic city in the North West of the county.
Founded 2,000 years ago by the Romans the walled city of Chester is the most historic city in the North West of the country. Many splendid, carefully restored buildings of all ages are to be seen including the black and white architecture for which it is famous. The Cathedral, Castle and Roman Amphitheatre, the largest in Britain, are of particular interest to visitors. "Photograph courtesy of the North West Tourist Board"
