The ruins of this early 12th century castle are a testament to teh16 days Cromwell took to capture it during the Civil War. It was then abandoned. Suitable for disabled visitors. Open late March - late October, daily. Beginning of November - end March, open Wed - Sun only. Closed 24-26 Dec. "English Heritage Photographic Library".   |
