Built in 1756 by John and James Adam, the house boasts the pre-eminent collection of Chippendale furniture on view in Scotland, the largest picture gallery in a Scottish country house, designed by Robert Reid in 1818, which now functions as an outstation for the National Galleries of Scotland, and a fine collection of Regency furniture by Trotter of Edinburgh. Other features include over 80 acres of woodland, parkland, gardens and riverside walks to explore, temporary exhibitions, highland cattle and croquet. Function suite for hire. Historic Houses Association Member. Opening Times: 1 Apr - 31 Oct: Grounds: 10am - sunset. House: 11am - 5pm. Last house tour 4.15pm. Open to groups/schools all year by appointment. |
