One of the finest 18th century land-scape gardens
This is one of the finest 18th century land-scape gardens, created by the Hon Charles Hamilton (1704 - 86). Situated in 158 acres, visitors can take a circuit walk through a series of emerging scenes, each one more surprising than the last. A 14-acre lake fed by a massive water wheel gives a breathtaking setting for a variety of spectacular features including a Gothic temple, ruined abbey, Turkish tent, crystal grotto, magnificent Cedars of Lebanon, replanted 18th century shrubberies and vineyard. Available for corporate and private hire, location filming, wedding receptions, etc. Opening Times: Apr - Oct: Tue - Sun and BH Mon, 10.30am - 6pm (last admission 4.30pm). Gates close 6pm. Nov - Mar: daily except Mon & Fri, 11am - 4pm or dusk if earlier (last admission 3.30pm). Closed Christmas and Boxing Day
