A lovely imposing 13th century manor house
Imposing 13th century manor house, partly built before the Norman Conquest but mostly built around a Great Hall erected in 1420. Geoffrey Chaucer wrote part of The Canterbury Tales whilst staying at the house. Maunsel House is the ancestral seat of the Slade family and is now the country home of the 7th baronet, Sir Benjamin Slade. Available for wedding receptions, private and garden parties, conferences, functions, filming, fashion shows, archery, clay pigeon shooting, equestrian events. Opening Times: Gardens only: 1 Apr - 1 Oct (inc Easter): Sun, 2 - 5.30pm. Coach parties and groups welcome by appointment
