The largest of the Scilly Isles
The largest of the Scilly Isles and the hub of commercial and social life. Its capital, Hugh Town, is on an isthmus which separates the Garrison area from the main part. Steamers and pleasure boats operate from the quay, the airfield is one mile away and there are excellent shops, restaurants, sport and leisure facilities as well as glorious coastal walks and safe, uncrowded beaches.
