A very fine 13th century castle built on a rock with a great curtain wall.
The castle's colourful history stretches across the Wars of Independence to the 1745 rising. The castle was briefly the prison of Flora Macdonald. Marvellous views from the top of the curtain wall. Close by are the remains of a chapel with beautiful architectural detail. Opening Times: Apr - Sept: daily, 9.30am - 6.30pm, last ticket 1/2 hr before closing.
