A truely beautiful historic site
BLAIRQUHAN is the home of James Hunter Blair, the great-great-grandson of Sir David Hunter Blair, 3rd Baronet for whom it was designed by William Burn and built in 1821-24. All the Regency furniture bought for the house remains, and the house has not been altered except discreetly to bring it up-to-date. There are ten double bedrooms including four four-poster beds, with en-suite bathrooms, five singles, and many public rooms which can be used for conferences and every sort of occasion. The castle is approached by a 3 mile private drive along the River Girvan and is situated in one of the most charming parts of south west Scotland. There is a well-known collection of pictures. It is particularly suitable for conferences because the house is entirely at your disposal. A five minute walk from the Castle are the walled gardens, laid out around the 1800s and recently replanned and replanted. Blairquhan is only 50 miles from Glasgow. It is within about half an hour's drive of the world- famous golf courses of Prestwick, Troon and Turnberry, the last two of which are venues for the British Open Golf Championships.
