Visit one of the earliest purpose built barracks
Among the earliest purpose built barracks, these have changed very little since 1717. The barracks house "By Beat of Drum", an exhibition which re-creates scenes such as a British infantryman's life in a barrack room, the Museum of the King's Own Scottish Borderers, the Borough Museum with its imaginative exhibitions and part of the Burrell Collection. Open late March - late October, daily. Early November - late March, Wed - Sun only. Closed 24-26 December.
