" HEADING - A classical building set amoung rolling parkland in the Thames Valley
An elegant, classical house designed in the 18th century by Carr of York and set in rolling parkland in the Thames Valley. The house has rich interiors with fine plasterwork, pictures and furniture, and includes an unusual Octagon Room and a decorative Shell Room. Basildon Park has connections with the East through its builder and was the home of a wealthy industrialist in the 19th century. It was rescued from dereliction in the mid 20th century. Small flower garden, pleasure grounds and woodland walk. Opening Times: 27 Mar - 31 Oct: Wed - Sun & BH Mons: 1 - 5.30pm (closed Good Fri), Park, Garden & Woodland Walk: as house but open 12 noon - 5.30pm. House and grounds will close at 5pm on 13 & 14 Aug for Concert. Groups (15+) o3, only on application to Property Manager. |
