Arley Hall & Gardens

ARLEY HALL, home of Viscount and Viscountess Ashbrook, was built c1840 by the owner's great-great-grandfather,Rowland Egerton Warburton, to the design of the Nantwich architect, George Latham. An important example of the Victorian Jacobean style, it has fine plasterwork and wood panelling as well as interesting furniture, pictures and other contents. Adjoining Arley Hall is a large private Chapel designed by Anthony Salvin, who also designed Westminster Abbey. An impressive range of activities can be held both in the Hall and in the grounds, from corporate conferences of any size to cocktail parties and ambassadorial receptions. The features include the Double Herbaceous Border, one of the earliest to be established in England (1846), unique avenue of clipped Quercus Ilex, collection of shrub roses, fine yew hedges, Herb Garden, Walled Garden, Woodland Garden with exotic trees, shrubs, azaleas and a collection of over 200 varieties of rhododendrons.
