Three-mile section of great earthwork built by Offa, King of Mercia 757-96, from the Severn estuary to the Welsh coast as a defensive boundary to his kingdom. One mile walk down to Devil's Pulpit on Offa's Dyke. Good footwear necessary, not suitable for the very young, old or infirm. "English Heritage Photographic Library"
