Robert Adam designed the central block and wings. These wings were later demolished. Two wings were rebuilt in 1890 by William Young. The Big Saloon was burnt in 1940 during military occupation and although it is unrestored, a new roof was constructed in 1987. The south wing (right in photo) is the family home and contains the famous Marble Hall (Staffordshire alabaster). Parts of the south wing are open. There is a fine collection of paintings and works of art. Surrounding gardens are being redeveloped, extensive policies, artificial ponds, greylag geese and other wildfowl breeding. Geese approach house closely. Historic Houses Association Member. Contact the estate office for further information on 01875 870 201
