Standing on cliffs above the River Thames, the great 19th century Mansion (now let as an hotel) is set in 152 hectares of gardens and woodland. A water garden, `secret' rose garden, herbaceous borders, topiary, a great formal parterre, and informal vistas provide endless variety. The garden statuary is one of the most important collections in the care of The National Trust and includes many Roman antiquities collected by 1st Viscount Astor. Many miles of woodland walks afford magnificent views over the Thames Valley towards Cookham and Maidenhead. The Octagonal Temple (Chapel) with its rich mosaic interior is open on the same days as are three of the Mansion's principal rooms. Access for less able: Estate and gardens mostly accessible. Route maps for wheelchair users. Two single and two double seated self-drive powered vehicles available, 4 wheelchairs. Wheelchair access to Mansion, but some steps along visitor route. Ramped access to Terrace. WCs at main car park and restaurant. Car parking closer to Mansion and restaurant available. Opening Times: House (3 rooms): Apr - Oct, Thur & Sun, 3 - 6pm.
