Challenge your bravado at Carrick-a-Rede
The famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge was originally a 'seasonal' working bridge for fishermen. However since the decline of salmon fishing along the coast, the bridge is today marketed as a tourist attraction. The bridge crosses a spectacular eighty foot deep chasm. It was originally constructed of a single rope hand rail and wooden slats. This was then replaced by a two hand railed bridge and finally the current caged bridge was installed in 2000.
