Burns National Heritage Park

Family day out, Visitor Centres
A lovely piece of history

At the Burns National Heritage Park the clay cottage where Robert Burns was born can be seen, containing the original furniture. A short walk away from the cottage is Alloway Kirk, the setting for Tam O'Shanter, Burn's famous poem. In the nearby village of Kirkoswald, where Burns went to school, is the grave of Douglas Graham - the man who inspired Tam's character. The Tam O'Shanter Experience is a frenetic, multi-media dramatisation of the poem. "Photograph courtesy of the Ayrshire and Arran Tourist Board". (copyright Harvey Wood
