An abundance of history both architectural and cultural
Athelhampton is one of the finest 15th century manor houses and is surrounded by one of the great architectural gardens of England. Enjoy the Tudor Great Hall, Great Chamber, Wine Cellar and the East Wing restored after the fire in Nov 1992. Wander through 20 acres of beautiful grounds dating from 1891, including the Great Court with 12 giant yew pyramids. The walled gardens include collections of tulips, magnolias, roses, clematis and lilies in season. This glorious garden of vistas is full of surprises and gains much from the fountains and River Piddle flowing through. Historic Houses Association Member. Opening Times: 1 Mar - Oct: daily (closed Sat), 10.30am - 5pm. Nov - Feb: Suns only, 10.30am - 5.30pm
