This 14th century Wealden hall house was the first building to be acquired by the National Trust, in 1896. The house is half-timbered and thatched and contains a medieval Hall, exhibition room and two other rooms open to the public. The charming garden is filled with traditional cottage favourites, some grown since Roman times and now almost lost to cultivation. Opening times: 27 Mar - Oct: Sun, Mon, Wed, Thur & Sat. 10am - 5pm/sunset if earlier, plus BH Mons & Good Fri, 10am - 5pm. Last admission 1/2 hour before closing.
